The Asheville Stamp Club is a friendly and welcoming group with many active members who meet once a month to share their passion for stamps and postal history.
We welcome collectors of all ages and experience levels, and we offer a variety of activities and events to help you learn more about the hobby and expand your collection. Our monthly meetings typically feature presentations, exhibits, and show-and-tells.
We also hold an auction every other month, with no "hammer" premium, so all proceeds go to the seller. The club offers free tables to our dealer members and we have a club stock of worldwide stamps available for purchase at 5 cents each. There are recent catalogs available for reference. In December, we hold our annual Christmas banquet, which is a time for us to celebrate the hobby and each other.
We welcome collectors of all ages and interests. Dues are $10.00 a year and includes our bimonthly newsletter "The Smoky Mountain Philatelist", complete membership list that includes 'what we collect' and notices about our meetings with urging to attend and share your interest with us.

Considered one of Canada’s most beautiful stamps, the Bluenose was created in 1929 as a high value (50 Cents) in the King George V scroll issue.
A precanceled stamp is a postage stamp that has been cancelled before being affixed to mail. Precanceled stamps are typically used by mass mailers, who can save the postal system time and effort by prearranging to use the precancels, and delivering the stamped mail ready for sorting.
The US Civil War was responsible not only for the Federal Govt’s first adhesive revenues, but for some of the more interesting cancels stamped or printed upon them. One of the items taxed to help pay for the Civil War, were novel and popular photocards, quaintly referred to as “sun pictures”.
